If you've already completed the original ten modules of the RNAO Nursing and eHealth Education Course, it is time to check again! RNAO recently released two exciting new modules on Nursing and Electronic Health Records (EHR), and Nurses and Nursing Students in a Digitally Connected World. To access these two modules, please go to http://elearning.rnao.ca.
Nursing and Electronic Health Records (EHR) introduces you to the importance, and potential, of an Electronic Health Record System in providing quality patient care. Upon completion of this module, you will be able to accurately recognize the features of electronic documentation and be able to explain the differences between the transmission of information on paper and electronically.
The second module, Nurses and Nursing Students in a Digitally Connected World, will help you recognize the features of eHealth that impact upon nursing practice and student education. This module is relevant to nurses, including nurse educators as well as nursing students interested in Web 2.0 and social networking technologies.

According to Angela Ormerod an Education and Development Clinician at Hamilton Health Sciences , Hamilton, Ontario,
"The RNAO Nursing and eHealth Education course is an excellent source of information focusing on the technology initiatives being rolled out across our LHINs, and how it impacts our nursing practice.
As an RN in a new education and development clinician role, the course has enhanced my knowledge of the various technologies which impact how nurses will provide care for patients.
In a learning environment, students can use this easy-to-navigate modular course as a stepping stone to understanding and supporting these new technology initiatives. Written in a well-organized, user-friendly manner, the content provides a great overview of eHealth currently and what we can expect to see in the future.
Definitely worth the time invested and on completion a small quiz is optional, yielding a certificate which marks your success. A nice bonus for time well spent, and functional as it can be used to support the CNO reflective practice."
