The 5 R's

The development panel was guided by the "5 R's" to promote health in expected and unexpected life events:

Respect:	A high regard for the uniqueness of families.
Recognition:	The continuous acknowledgement of the value of the role of families and of nurses.
Resources:	Awareness of the need to gain access to sources of support to relieve difficulty and/or recover strengths.
Responsibility:	The accountability on the part of families and nurses.
Results:	The need to monitor outcomes and evaluate nursing practices.
